DTN COMMENTS:  More bids are on the table in all three major feeding 
states, but they are well below current asking prices of around $242 in 
the South. Asking prices are still not established in the North. 
Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until sometime Thursday 
and/or Friday. 

Today's slaughter totaled 120,000 head, 2,000 more than last week, but 
5,000 less than a year ago. Live cattle futures closed mixed, mostly 
lower, off 277 to up 170, feeder issues ended the day sharply lower, off 
240 to 562. Beef cutouts are expected to close lower with moderate to 
good box movement.
